This is our laid back, gentle stallion 'Red'.  Red is quite the talker and neighs and calls to us when we are working around the yard.  He loves to challenge the quad to drag races down the field and dances after he has won a race.

 

Red respects a fence, even one that is just held together by a wish and a prayer.  When he was less than a year old, the side of his face met some barbed wire.  He still has a scar around his right eye from the incident.  But he handled all treatment very well and stood calmly while he was washed and cared for.

When Red was 4 years old, we had him examined and were told by a vet that Red has one undescended testicle, and it was highly unlikely that he would sire anything.  Rather than geld him, we decided to keep him out with a herd of fillies.  Spunky Red proved the vet wrong!  He successfully bred 6 mares (2 were non- curly grade mares) and every foal hit the ground with curls.  He has not been handled while breeding; but this should not be a problem for him.  He is still spunky and has a few breeding years yet.
